The Paradise: The One I Didn’t Ask For !!

It was the end of a long, exhausting workweek, and all I wanted to do was unwind with a movie. I logged onto Netflix, saw a massive new release trending at number one, and thought, “Why not? Let’s give it a shot.”

I was on my bloody sofa munching on chips at home. I was comfortable. Now looking back, I was already in paradise. Then why did I make this terrible choice? I genuinely thought Nani couldn't go wrong twice. Let's agree—the man has been behind masterpieces like Jersey and highly entertaining films like Gang Leader. But even his screen presence couldn't salvage this mess.

Two hours later, I was staring at my screen in absolute disbelief, questioning every single life choice that led me to that moment. If you ever want to mentally torture someone, just force them to watch this film. I genuinely pity the poor souls who paid hard-earned money to catch this utter disaster on the big screen.

After Dasara, I wanted to see what Srikanth Odela would do differently. Apparently, more of everything that exhausted me. He doubles down on every single exhausting trope plaguing modern mass cinema, completely abandoning plot structure, character arcs, and basic common sense in favor of pure, unadulterated misery porn.

Trauma as a Personality Trait

A "gritty" setting is fine, but the film mistook relentless trauma for deep storytelling. The narrative trapped me in a fictional, post-apocalyptic 1980s slum where literally every single character was in perpetual, screaming agony. There was no breathing room. It was just a numbing, loud barrage of stylized violence and filth.

And then, of course, came the inevitable transition. Instead of a clever, grounded protagonist who wins through strategy or sheer grit, the screenplay lazily elevated Nani's character into a literal God figure. I was subjected to the ultimate, overused cliché: a savior complex turned up to eleven, where I was expected to bow down and worship a character just because the background score was deafening.

Birds of a Feather Flop Together

When a script fails, there is a tendency to hide behind heavy-handed visual metaphors. In this case, it was an obsession with slums and... crows. Yes, crows.

The film beat me over the head trying to compare the oppressed slum community to crows—complaining that history only writes about beautiful pigeons and ignores the ugly, hungry scavengers. To drive this half-baked metaphor home, the screen was constantly choked with gratuitous visual clutter. Crows were flying everywhere, to the point where they were practically carrying weapons into fight sequences. It felt less like art and more like a bizarre, chaotic fantasy world where kuch bhi chalta hai (anything goes).

Where the Hell Is Everybody?

But the absolute breaking point for me was the complete and utter lack of common sense regarding the outside world. Where the hell were the police? Where was the media?

The story lazily tried to convince me that the villain had the local law enforcement completely in his pocket. But we are talking about daylight massacres, literal localized wars, and entire communities living under torture. How did violence on this scale draw no response from the outside world? Instead, the film operated in a lawless vacuum so the main character could suddenly spawn vehicles and weapons out of nowhere to fight a private war. It literally felt like the police and journalists were just sitting right outside the camera frame, munching on popcorn, waiting for the movie to wrap up so they could join me in roasting it.

Unearned Emotional Blackmail

To make matters worse, the film attempted to anchor its mindless violence in the ultimate lazy trope: the "mother sentiment."

Look, the classic "Mere paas maa hai" angle worked beautifully in Deewar because the film earned that emotion. Here, dropping the mother sentiment into a hyper-violent action block without building the relationship just felt manipulative and jarring. It existed solely as a cheap emotional cheat code to justify a protagonist doing horrific, unhinged things because "he loves his mom." When a film relies on that shortcut instead of building genuine, complex human motivations, the entire story collapses under its own weight.

The Final Verdict: Please Pass the Palate Cleanser

Ever since KGF hit the box office jackpot, filmmakers have been desperately trying to build these gritty, lawless cinematic "universes." But this film is proof that a massive budget and a camera lens caked in coal dust cannot replace a coherent screenplay.

I had to literally skim through the second half just to survive the predictability and the mindless gore. It was an absolute critical failure of a fantasy world, and frankly, I would rather watch Salaar on a loop than sit through this crap again. At least with Salaar, I knew exactly what brand of high-octane mass action I was getting.

I am currently pinning all my hopes on Karthik Subbaraj's new Tamil crime thriller, Dorothy, to completely wipe this disaster from my memory. Here is praying for actual plot twists, a tight screenplay, and a director who actually respects my time.

Adios Amigos !! Have a blast with Jailer 2 !!

Musafir Cafe : Release and Refuge

A Tribute to Musafir Café:

I watched Musafir Café, and it did something I didn't expect. I went in looking for a story, but I walked out forced to reckon with my own. For years, I have neatly folded two women into the back of my mind, turning them into metaphors for the lessons I thought I had learned. Sudha and Preeti. But they weren't metaphors. They were living, breathing people—and I am only now realizing that while one was a lesson in pursuit, the other was a lesson in presence.

Sudha was the fever. That is the only word for it. She was the version of me that lived on high-octane adrenaline, always ready to jump if she said "run." I remember a college day—a glossary event in the mechanical department where I was slated to host. It was my stage, my moment, but she texted. She wanted to be at Moonlight Café on ECR. I didn't think twice; I walked away from the microphone and the crowd to sit in front of her. I took her to Auroville for her birthday, curating a quiet, private evening under the trees, thinking that if I just built a perfect enough world, she would decide to stay in it.

But Sudha was a creature of velocity. When she moved to Bangalore, she didn't just change her city; she shed her skin. The pace, the ambition, the definition of a "power couple"—it was a new language I didn't speak. She looked at me, with my old-world sensibilities and my ECR-anchored heart, and told me to "grow up." Even now, when our paths briefly intersect, she carries that same impatience, that same urge to be elsewhere. Looking back, I see a man who was constantly trying to keep pace with a wind that was only interested in blowing past him.

Then, there was the silence of Preeti.

Preeti never asked for a stage. She never asked me to leave my own life behind to validate hers. She just arrived. I remember one humid afternoon, the kind where the air feels heavy and sluggish. I heard a knock, and there she was, unannounced, walking straight into my kitchen. She didn't come to talk about the future or test the "power" of our connection. She came to cook. The sharp, comforting scent of sambar rice and the earthiness of potato poriyal began to drift through the house. We were so caught in the rare, mundane beauty of that moment—the way the kitchen felt like it finally belonged to someone—that we forgot the stove was even on. The food waited. The world outside the door simply ceased to exist.

I let her go. That is a hard truth to admit, but it is the truth. My brother was not yet married, and in the architecture of my family, that was the wall I wasn't allowed to climb. I waited. I stayed in the lanes of duty. And for a long time, I carried the jagged edges of that regret. But watching Musafir Café—the way the film framed the quiet, domestic choices—allowed me to stop mourning the "what if."

I’ve come to realize that I wasn't actually losing her. I was learning the difference between the fire that consumes you and the hearth that keeps you warm. Sudha taught me how to want someone who is always leaving; Preeti taught me what it feels like when someone simply decides to arrive.

I am thirty-five now, living in a new city, building a different kind of life. The "ECR version" of me is a ghost, and the man who waited for his brother’s permission is fading into memory. Musafir Café forced me to hold these two versions of love up to the light. And for the first time, I am not angry at either of them.

(Both are part of my journey—one, the wind; one, the coffee. The wind has passed. The coffee still hasn't gone cold.)

"I'm waiting."

Oru Perē Varalāru - The Architecture behind the Screens !!

To all those who wonder how a 2-year-old party can knock a 60-year-old Dravidian regime into the ground — this is how.

I never saw MGR. I only read his history. I knew a name could become an era, but I never felt it breathe.

I am a 90s kid. This is the history I lived.

Each film wasn't box-office data. It was a brick. Each punchline wasn't noise. It was an instruction manual. Lay them end to end and you don't see a career — you see a blueprint. A state, sectioned and addressed, segment by segment, sentiment by sentiment. This is what it looked like from the inside.

Section I: Territory, Instinct, and Impact

Target: Ground-level mass and the youth

This block didn't ask for loyalty. It created instinct. The theatre stopped being a dark room where you watched a story. It became a territory you claimed. The 90s kids who walked in as spectators walked out as the first wave of cadre — before there was even a party to belong to.

Thirumalai

"Vaazhkai oru vattam da… inga jeikravan thoppaan, thokkaravan jeippan." [Life is a cycle… the one who wins here will lose, the one who loses will win.] Not a punchline. A philosophy of loss and return that the crowd carried out with them. Life as a cycle where falling is built into the design. Heads turned.

Ghilli

"Inda area, anda area… engayume enakku bayam kedayadhu da… yenna, aiyya Ghilli da." [This area, that area… I fear nothing anywhere… because I am Ghilli.] This is where spectators became fans. The whistle stopped being a reaction — it became an instinct, a territorial claim. Ghilli didn't just draw a crowd. It planted a flag.

Pokkiri

"Oru vaati mudivu pannitenna, en pecha naane kekka maaten." [Once I've made a decision, I won't even listen to myself.] Unpredictable. Dangerous. Celebration hardens into expectation. The screen now owes the crowd something. Impact is no longer optional — it is the contract.

Electoral harvest: The foundational mass base. Fan clubs that had spent decades organizing screenings, painting cutouts, and breaking coconuts at theatre gates — converted, almost overnight, into welfare units spread across every district of the state. The infrastructure was already there. The loyalty was already tested. All that changed was the uniform. Active sleeper cells, years in the making, waiting for the signal. This is where the registered vote base was born.

Section II: Blood, Belonging, and Protection

Target: Women voters — mothers and sisters

Raw energy alone has never won a state. You need the emotional trust of the household. This block pivoted the image — from aggressive young rebel to protective guardian. By the end of it, he wasn't just a hero. He was the Annan that every sister in Tamil Nadu felt she had.

Thirupaachi

The sister sentiment enters. Winning is no longer enough — now the crowd must protect. The relationship becomes personal, and personal becomes political.

Sivakasi

Mother. Separation. Reunion. The root goes deeper than protection — it reaches belonging. Not just power. Family.

Nanban

The circle extends to brotherhood. Anything for friends. The audience grows wider without losing the core. Trust accumulates quietly.

Theri

Fear becomes real. Protection is no longer a sentiment — it is the entire identity. Vigilante justice served, family protected. The crowd knows exactly what they're voting for when they vote for safety.

Varisu

The corporate family. Unity under one roof, one leadership. Arriving just before the final leap, it resets the emotional baseline — reminding the crowd what all the structure is ultimately for.

Electoral harvest: The women's vote bank. The silent, decisive maternal and sister votes that don't show up in pre-election surveys but arrive at the booth with certainty.

Section III: National Duty and Institutional Defiance

Target: Working class, farmers, and the marginalized

Here, the enemy changed. It was no longer a local rowdy or a corporate villain. The antagonist became systemic failure — corrupt mechanisms, institutional apathy, the state itself. The hero aligned himself with the structural pain of Tamil Nadu, and the crowd recognized the alignment as real.

Thuppakki

"I'm waiting." National duty. No noise. Pure control. From this moment, presence itself becomes impact — the silence carries more weight than the action.

Thalaivaa

Tagged "Time to Lead," delayed and resisted by the system — and the resistance backfired. The attempt to suppress it announced its arrival louder than any release could have. The line between reel and real began its first serious blur.

Kaththi

The farmer. Action finds alignment with cause, and the hero finds a people to stand beside. Not just action for its own sake — action aimed at something structural.

Mersal

Healthcare. Corruption. The voice questions the structure directly. "Aalaporan Tamizhan" — the first clear articulation of an identity that would eventually claim the soil of governance. The state noticed. Controversy followed. The crowd noticed the controversy.

Sarkar

"Oru viral puratchi." [A revolution with one finger.] The mechanism itself becomes the subject. The vote. The power. Individual ownership over collective fate. Not a crowd moving — one person deciding.

Bigil

The whistle shifts register. No longer celebration — now a signal. "Singapenne" centers women's empowerment. One man's conviction creates a thousand others ready to act. The multiplier effect, rehearsed on screen, ready for real ground.

Electoral harvest: The ideological vote. Working class, agrarian communities, and anti-incumbency voters who wanted structural change and found in this cinema a language for their demand.

Section IV: Legacy and the Transfer of Authority

Target: Campus, first-time voters, Gen Z

The final phase wasn't loud. It didn't need to be. He stopped competing with contemporaries and started speaking to the generation that would hold the voting pens. Quiet, undeniable gravity — the kind you feel before you understand it.

Master

Effortless gravity. No need to announce arrival — control is already established. The focus turns directly to youth politics and a clear, unflinching stance against state-sponsored drug and alcohol revenue systems. The campus recognizes its own language being spoken back to it.

Leo

Duality surfaces. Calm outside, violent ghost inside — very much like the political avatar the industry had watched for years without fully reading. Both images coexist, and the crowd doesn't have to choose. They hold both.

GOAT

No build-up. No explanation. A declaration. The peak is named without ceremony. Inside, the old loop plays — the whistle the crowd already lived, compressed into Whistle Podu — an anthem written with the end already in mind, released before any election symbol was officially assigned. The song wasn't a celebration of the film. It was a rehearsal for something else entirely. The architecture announces its own completion.

Electoral harvest: The explosive first-time voter block. A generation that didn't read history in books — they watched it compile, film by film, over twenty years, on their screens.

Then the symbol became real. Whistle was announced as the official election symbol. And the Entire State Whistled Away !!

No training was needed, because the behavior was already taught. The bricks had been laid one by one, for twenty years, in the dark. We thought we were watching cinema. We were watching construction.

Then the election. Then the mandate. Then the oath.

The screen ends. The seat begins.

And still, one film remains. Jana Nayagan. Unreleased. Waiting — as if the story knows it cannot end before the office does.

Before, cinema created the leader. Now the leader exists. The cinema just follows.

I didn't see the old era. What I watched was different — a careful, deliberate architecture raised over two decades in plain sight, in crowded theatres, in the dark, in front of millions of witnesses who didn't yet know they were witnesses.

Belief. Authority. Belonging. Danger. Control. Resistance. Purpose. System. Youth. Signal. Symbol. Seat.

Not a moment in time. A lifetime of architecture.

Thalapathy The name is the era.

Thala, for a Reason !

In India, every boy in his teens wants to become a man.

But what defines one?

For most of us, the answer doesn’t come from books or classrooms. It comes from cricket. From the men we watch under lights, carrying a nation’s weight on their shoulders— showing us, silently, how to stand tall.

In 2004, when I was in the 8th grade, Indian cricket already had a polished mould for masculinity. There was Rahul Dravid’s steel. VVS Laxman’s calm. And Sachin Tendulkar—the gold standard, faultless and divine.

Classic. Elegant. Complete.

To a thirteen‑year‑old rebel, it all felt… safe. Predictable. And I was never that kid.

So I leaned toward swagger. First towards Sourav Da. And then—towards the man Dada trusted as a pinch‑hitting wicketkeeper from Ranchi.

MS Dhoni walked in like he didn’t belong but made the stage belong to him.

Unpolished. Long‑haired. Raw.

A technique that looked more like a woodcutter than a textbook batsman. He didn’t caress the ball. He punished it. No flowery strokes—just intent, power, and audacity.

He got out for a duck on debut. And walked back without a flicker of emotion.

That stillness struck me. As if the result didn’t matter , only the work behind it did.

From a small town. No pedigree. No privilege.

Yet he carried a quiet announcement: You don’t need permission to own the big stage.

Sitting in Pondicherry, that idea hit home.

By the time I reached 10th grade in 2006, I hadn’t realized it yet— but I had started copying him.

While others spiraled into exam anxiety, burning midnight oil in panic, I did something simpler.

I trusted routine. One or two hours a day. No drama. No fear. Just presence.

That’s when I understood it:

Results are not the target. They’re only the shadow of the process you follow.

Getting into the top tier wasn’t the mission. It was the consequence.

I saw Dhoni live this truth in international cricket. He wasn’t reactive. He was prepared. He had already accepted every outcome—so pressure had nowhere to land.

Behind the stumps, he wasn’t just a keeper. He was a judge.

Calm. Measuring. Ruthless.

He taught me something invaluable:

When you are fully present, you don’t react to chaos. Chaos reacts to you.

In 2008, I finished 12th grade with a 90+ score— despite chemistry trying its hardest to pull me down.

By then, I knew my minimalist style wasn’t laziness. It was choice.

College came. I started my blog in 2009. And Dhoni reached another summit—captain across formats.

Then he did something no legend is supposed to do.

He stepped back.

The feared, record‑breaking No. 3 started walking out at No. 7.

While Rohit, Kohli, Yuvi, and Raina took centre stage.

To the world, it was tactics. To me, it was mythology.

That’s when he stopped being just a great cricketer. That’s when he became Thala.

Leadership without ego. Strength without noise. Victory without insecurity.

That lesson stayed with me—on the field, at work, in life:

You never walk alone. Together. Forever.

Dhoni’s legend wasn’t built only on trophies. It was built on fear.

Bowlers feared a man who looked like he was playing a video game while they fought for survival.

Fans stayed glued even at nine down— because hope walked in with him.

Batsmen feared drifting an inch out of the crease. Fielders moved like chess pieces under his gaze— placed where the opponent would fail. Not textbook but clinical.

Everything else followed naturally.

All ICC trophies. IPL titles. Champions League wins. Sixes into the night sky at Dharamshala.

But none of that defines him.

While others chased mansions and headlines, he chose a farm in Ranchi.

Strawberries. Silence. Process.

I’ve spent over a decade in the chemical industry now— the same subject that once haunted my board exams becoming my career.

And through every phase, one lesson stayed constant: His words, humming in every fan's ears.

Trust the process. Stay present. Prepared minds don’t fear nightmares.

Even now, as this IPL season feels like it might slip away for CSK, my devotion doesn’t waver.

This fandom—this Yellove—was never about trophies. It’s about memory. About belonging.

I just want to see him once more.

Walking out of the AnbuDen at Chepauk. Yellow roaring. "Nee Singam Dhaan" song in the background shaking the stands.

Thala Entry. Like a lion. One last time.

Because legends don’t retire. They live on, in the boys they quietly shaped into men.

And now you know the reason why.

Cheers !!

'Good morning Darling' से लेकर 'Honey.. Say something na.. I can't sleep!'

Mess and Us

After my recent interaction with one of my mentors, who wanted me to read the book Thinking, Fast and Slow, I’ve realised I’m basically a high-functioning Ghajini. For years I thought I was a rational, corporate-standard human being. Turns out I’m just a vetti boy in a Raymond suit, trying to pass off as an intellectual.

Auto-Pilot:
Auto-Pilot runs 95% of my life. He’s fast, restless, and reckless — the kind of guy who thrives in chaos. He is the cause and also the fixer of the problem. He is that jugaadu banda who will get you anything to get by. Not the most efficient, but chal jaata hai types.
He’s the reason I can dodge cows and bikes in city traffic like  ninja, but also the reason I walk into a room, stare at the wall, and forget if I came for my phone or a glass of water. He quit smoking one day and, almost by accident, handed me back my old passion — writing. Suddenly, chaos had a soundtrack again.
Logic:
Logic is supposed to be the IAS officer, the CEO, the one who could have been anything, only if he wished. But he’s unbelievably lazy. He only wakes up when it's incredibly urgent. Maybe for tax calculations, investments, or when Amma asks why I haven’t “settled down” to convince her with a justifiable excuse. But, most of the time, he just peeks out, sees Auto-Pilot burning the candles, mutters “Chalo, jab zaroori padega, tab dekha jaayega,” and goes back to sleep.
The Drama of Losing
Finding my old diary with my ex’s photo tucked inside is pure nostalgia. I flip two pages, smile, relive hours on those missed moments, and then move on. But losing that diary? That’s heartbreak. That’s me searching for that diary through every rack of my cupboards and flipping the house upside down, sprinting like Dhanush in Raanjhanaa, lungs bursting, chasing Sonam Kapoor as the train pulls away.
We don’t actually care about winning; we just hate losing with a passion. The joy of rediscovery is fleeting, but the pain of loss sticks like Fevicol.
Memory, the Exaggerated Me
There’s the “Me” who lives the day, and then there’s the exaggerated “Me” who tells the story later. The first Me experiences life in real time — the food, the laughter, the travel. But the exaggerated Me is a director, a scriptwriter, a magician who edits the reel.
I spent six blissful days in Georgia — snow-clad mountains, countryside, beaches, blondes, wine, weather, perfect 10/10. Yet the last hour at Tbilisi airport was chaos. And when the exaggerated Me narrates the trip, he doesn’t talk about the mountains or the wine. He waves his arms, raises his voice, and says, “Avoid Tbilisi during Ramadan or Bakrid holidays, man, the airport is a nightmare.” One bad ending erases six good days. That’s how memory exaggerates, dramatizes, and rewrites the script.
The Illusion of Control
I look at EMI dates, gold loan reminders, and random curveballs of targets at work I know are out of reach, but yet convince myself I’m the Captain of the ship. “Koi nai mamu, sab control me hai,” or “Paathukkalam.” In reality, I’m just a guy on a raft in a monsoon flood. Logic is asleep, Auto-Pilot is rowing with a spoon, while EMI drags on, gold loan piles up, and targets are met with miserable numbers.
The Bottom Line
We aren’t captains. We’re passengers with loud imaginations. We feel the pain of losing more than the joy of finding. We let one bad hour erase six good days. We’re not rational — we’re biological glitches wrapped in Raymond suits.
But here’s the twist: quitting smoking gave me back my pen. Writing became my oar. Even if the diary is gone, the stories it carried are alive in me. So next time you see me floating toward the waterfall, just know Auto-Pilot is in charge, Logic has checked out, and the exaggerated Me will be waiting at the bottom — with a story in hand, not a photo in a pocket.
Till then, Cheers and Adios.

Master of None

Not every child is born a retard. Some grow into one with age. This is the story of a man who wore masks all his life — the mask of discipline, the mask of respectability, the mask of intellect — but underneath was only insecurity, bitterness, and neglect.

He began not with courage but with manipulation. At 26, he preyed on the infatuation of a 19‑year‑old girl from a higher caste, twisting her youthful admiration into what he called “love.” He eloped with her, not out of conviction but out of insecurity and the desire to control. What should have been a partnership quickly turned toxic. To protect his own secrets — affairs during transfers and scattered investments — he accused her of cheating, silencing her with abuse. Her sacrifice defined the marriage, while his lack of awareness defined him.

As a father, he was absent. Bitter by nature, he could not stand the sight of others’ success or joy. At work, he stayed late to flirt with colleagues and forced subordinates to redo tasks exactly his way, even when theirs was better. He bad‑mouthed his bosses behind their backs, only to be transferred again and again. His career was steady but uninspired, marked not by leadership but by resentment, petty politics, and shallow validation.

Financially, he was no provider. Scattered plots, no records, no foresight. The only true stability came from his wife, who insisted on one home to anchor the family. That house became the mansion he clings to today — a monument to her strength, not his.

His children succeeded not because of him but in spite of him. Through sheer grit, they entered prestigious institutions of national importance, only to be pushed into a looming loop of EMIs before their first paycheck because he refused to pay even minimal fees. He called it discipline. In truth, it was abdication dressed up as wisdom.

By retirement, he was left with papers, property, and emptiness. He does not smoke, drink, travel, or enjoy life. His restraint is not virtue but absence. And only after retirement did he begin scribbling, not out of passion but out of boredom and the need to look intellectual. His writing was not wisdom but the last mask of insecurity.

The true legacy of such a man is not property or poems. It is the endurance of the wife and the resilience of the children. They rewrote the story he tried to control, proving that dignity and success can emerge even from neglect.

This is the cautionary tale of a man who lived behind masks, manipulated love, resented joy, and now waits to die .. alone !

Manifest

In 2016, among the mist and tea of Wayanad, the goal was simple: promote a spray oil to curb red spider mite infestations. The mission was technical, backed by UPASI and Tocklai, but the experience became something deeper. The science opened doors; the language opened hearts.

The Practical Work

Institutional approvals carried weight, so estate managers were willing to listen. The spray oil addressed a real agronomic problem, influencing yield, leaf quality, and livelihoods. Yet every report and field demo ultimately faced the same human question: did they trust me enough to try it.

The Language of Trust

As a Tamil in Kerala, it became clear that effort mattered more than fluency. Five simple Malayalam words turned into a compass: entha (what), evide (where), engane (how), eppol (when), ethu (which). Everyday phrases came from being a Mohanlal fan and from the estates themselves: sugamaano (how are you), valare (very much), adippoli (awesome), vellam (water), kshamikkanum (sorry), kurachi ariyum (I know a little), kittumo (can I get it). Directions and emotion followed: avade poi chovichaal parayulle etta (if you go there and ask, they’ll tell you, brother), and ivade njan kanda pol soundaryam evadayum kandilla (the beauty I’ve seen here, I haven’t seen anywhere else).

These were not just translation tools. They were gestures of respect for the land and its people. Spoken even imperfectly, they turned clients into hosts and strangers into allies.

The Era Shift

That season belonged to an era before AI, when everything depended on physical presence, patience, and human networks. Today, there is instant data, instant translation, and powerful models. But the warmth that earned hospitality in Wayanad remains irreplaceable. The methods have changed; the essence has not.

Turning Inward in 2026

In 2026, the journey arrives at a new landscape—the inner one. The same five words now guide this exploration. What defines me now. Where do I want my energy to flow. How will I grow and learn. When will I move and when will I pause. Which choices align with the life I want to build. Some answers will be cloudy and uncomfortable. Others will be soft and affirming. Each one will refine me.

From field demos and institutional approvals to broken Malayalam and Lalettan dialogues, from building rapport with people to listening within, the thread has been continuous. The outer work taught me to listen. The inner work now asks me to answer.

My Manifest for 2026

I manifest a year of honest questions and steady practice. I will use these five words to probe, to pause, and to choose. I will treat the turbid answers as lessons and the cushy answers as anchors. I will carry forward the same humility that once opened doors in Wayanad and now opens doors within.

This is my compass. This is my manifest for 2026.

Cheers and a Happy new year 2026 !!

Productivity Circus !!

Every morning, I step into the grand tent of modern media. The ringmaster? Back in the day, it was Viru Sahastrabuddhe from 3 Idiots—Virus himself, cracking the whip over rote perfection. Now? Google News, LinkedIn, Mint, YouTube shorts, and podcasts play the part: “7 habits of billionaires,” “10 mistakes the middle class makes,” “5 ways to wake up before you’re even asleep.”

By the time I scroll through my feed, I’ve been ambushed by “12 productivity hacks you must master before breakfast” and “9 investment secrets the rich don’t want you to know.” Doctors in lab coats wag fingers: “Stop drinking coffee this way or you’ll ruin your brain!” So-called economists pop up with napkin graphs: “This one trick will save the middle class!” Podcast shorts scream: “If you’re not hustling 24/7, you’re already behind.”

Let’s flip the script a bit—what if there were no lists at all? Vadivelu nailed it with his dare: “Oru naal fulla vettiya iru paapom?” (Let’s see if you can stay idle for one whole day). It’s the art of living carefree—ditching the grind, savoring the idle joy that no algorithm can quantify.

Vijay Sethupathi’s Sumaar Moonji Kumaaru character turned that into a lifestyle—carefree, vetti, chasing Kumudha with nothing but fun and frolic. No numbered lists, no productivity hacks, just the joy of wasting time with abandon.

From film to YouTube to LinkedIn, that spirit lives on. Pundank (a Chennai-based stand-up comic on YouTube, real name Faiyaaz Hussain) delivers “no-filter” bits—blunt, sarcastic, painfully relatable. His take on LinkedIn gurus: “Bro, if waking up at 4 a.m. made you rich, milkmen would be billionaires.” On networking tricks: “It’s just lying about how busy you are while holding a coffee cup.”

Rahul Subramanian’s witty LinkedIn posts carry the same vibe—sharp timing, irreverent humor, cutting through the monotony. He doesn’t juggle productivity tips; he juggles punchlines. Reading him feels like a stand-up set crashing the corporate tent—refreshing, painfully true.

The circus thrives on order, but life thrives on chaos. Konjam freeya vidu machi, and embrace imperfection as the main show. No article reveals the one true secret: life is not a list, it’s a messy draft—sometimes a vetti adventure, sometimes just following Kumudha. And in case you’re wondering, that’s just our way of saying: may the joke always be on the circus, not on you. And ultimately life should be about

Kumudha Happy Annachi !!

Magadha !!

Say Bihar, and people think paan stains, cheap labour, Ramleela.

Say Magadha, and they go silent. That ancient name lies buried beneath neglect.

Bodh Gaya — where a prince sat under a fig tree and became the Buddha. From this soil, peace outran the sword, reaching China, Burma, Sri Lanka, Thailand. The world still bows here. Bihar? Busy rehearsing Ramleela. Bravo.

Nalanda — Asia’s brain before the internet, before printing presses, before modern universities. Scholars walked thousands of miles for wisdom. Burned. Now its ruins are selfie backdrops while locals chew gutka. The irony? The very brands of gutka and paan masala are glamorized by film stars — selling addiction with a smile, standing on the ashes of a civilization that once sold thought. From wisdom to Manpasand — that’s the downgrade. Congratulations, Bihar.

Rajgir — once humming with Buddha’s teachings, kings listening instead of shouting. Now a picnic spot. Dialogue drowned in chatter. Bravo again.

Pataliputra — Ashoka’s capital, where conquest turned into compassion. Today, Patna chokes in traffic, unable to govern itself, let alone inspire the world.

Theravāda — The Discipline of Nations vs One Nation

Theravāda, the “Doctrine of the Elders,” carried Magadha’s flame into Sri Lanka, Burma, and Thailand. It thrived because each nation preserved its own rhythm and identity while sharing the same truth.

One Nation demands the opposite: erase identities, flatten diversity, chant one slogan. Where Theravāda respected nations, One Nation erases them. Bravo, modern India.

Mahāyāna — The Compassion of Languages vs One Language

Mahāyāna, the “Great Vehicle,” blossomed in China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. Its Bodhisattva ideal translated compassion into countless languages, rituals, and art forms. It thrived because truth spoke in many tongues.

One Language silences them. Tamil, Bengali, Kannada — reduced to noise under a single imposed tongue. Where Mahāyāna thrived in diversity, One Language finds weakness.

Vajrayāna — The Coexistence of Methods vs One Party

Vajrayāna, the “Diamond Vehicle,” flourished in Tibet, Bhutan, Mongolia. It layered Theravāda’s discipline with Mahāyāna’s compassion, adding tantric practices and esoteric rituals. It thrived because multiple methods coexisted.

One Party thrives by silencing alternatives, dismissing dissent, worshipping monopoly. Where Vajrayāna lived coexistence, One Party seeks erasure.

Magadha once exported three paths — Theravāda, Mahāyāna, Vajrayāna.

India today imports three slogans — One Nation, One Language, One Party.

The irony is bitter: the land that gifted Asia pluralism now forgets its own echoes.

Magadha lingers, silent, neglected — waiting to be reclaimed in the land we casually call Bihar.

Until then, Bihar will keep choosing Manpasand over Magadha.

Reminiscence

Some stories don’t begin in college or adulthood. Mine began back in 3rd standard. At that time, I didn’t understand what love was, I still don't. But I only knew the thrill of sitting beside her, the pride of competing against her, and the quiet joy of watching her win.

For three consecutive terms, she ruled as class leader, the name tag and wooden scale in her hand like a crown and scepter. To her, I was just competition. To me, she was already something more. Even when I finally won the badge to her disappointment, I had chosen her to rule as the queen of my life. Immature, yes—but that’s childhood love: rivalry wrapped in the guise of surrender.

By 5th standard, the story paused abruptly. I moved schools. Just like that, she was gone. No goodbyes, no closure—just silent absence. The memory stayed frozen, like a photograph. But life is a twisted joke, she faded to only reappear.

When fate circled back in 2008 during college counseling, she was no longer a memory but a present reality. As soon as our eyes met, a sudden moment of freeze swept through me—a thrilling wave that surged through every vein, sending goosebumps across my skin. I tried to avoid her gaze, overwhelmed by the intense mix of excitement and nervousness pulsing inside me. Recognition hit like a tidal wave. She saw me too, but pride remained a cruel guardian between us. For two years, she still viewed me as competition. Literary contests that I once sailed through became frozen moments whenever she stood opposite me. To her, it was rivalry; to me, something entirely different.

And then came the messages. A thousand texts sent from behind a wall of pride, each one a quiet plea for recognition, all left unanswered. Until the college fest. I sang "Adiye Kolluthe" on stage, and in a moment of abandon, I knelt down as the words "indha ganame unnai manappene" (In this very moment, I will marry you) escaped my lips. To the audience, it was just a performance. But her friend carried the story back to her, sparking her curiosity.

That night, after years of silence, my phone finally lit up with her reply. It wasn’t a confession—just a simple message: "I have fever… I’ll text you back." Ordinary, almost disappointing. But for me, it was everything—because silence had given way to words.

Eventually, distance collapsed. No longer strangers exchanging glances across a bus aisle. We created our own stolen world: borrowed bike rides where the road belonged only to us. Skipping a college fest just because she asked me to. The pretense of a common friend to bring her to Festember in NIT Trichy. My first hold of her hand on campus, far from home, where distance gave us freedom. Secret hugs, carefully hidden. Quiet conversations with her brother—a way to become familiar with her family, but also an excuse to spend more time together. Celebrating her birthday, carefully planned, hidden from the city hustle in a quiet excape of nothing but a cake, candles and my presence. Buying her an anklet from my first salary, each moment a memory to cherish.

But cracks emerged. Arguments born of ego. Silence stretched into weeks. Break-ups felt final, only to dissolve in a glance, a text, or a shared ride. Each reunion felt like a new beginning. Each parting, the end of the world. From third standard to college, every glance we shared carried a different meaning. In childhood, it was rivalry. In college, it was pride, longing, and the fragile rhythm of make-ups and break-ups.

What followed was a winding path of make-ups and break-ups, silences and reconciliations.

But like in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, the roads finally parted. She chose family over me—it was like a one-way ticket to Heartbreak City—and I was left with memories to cherish. My story, like Karthik’s, is filled with moments of union and separation, passion and silence, hope and heartbreak. He chose to make that memory an art—his was cinema. Mine became poetry and blogs.

Looking back after 15 years, I realize it wasn’t just about her. It was about the eras of my life she represented: the boy who lost her in 5th, the teenager who found her again in college, and the man who carries her memory today. Love in my story wasn’t a single moment—it was a thread woven through time, silence, and song. And just like the film, love didn’t end with possession—it ended with memory. Some stories don’t need endings. They just need to be remembered, again and again, in the quiet act of reminiscence.

Cheers till the next !!
